Free public beta by benelog: Digital Product Passport and more

The Trusted Link for every Digital Product Passport

Publish your Digital Product Passport (DPP) today. epc.is gives every product a trusted web address: a GS1 Digital Link under your own GS1 number, encoded in a QR code, a DataMatrix or an RFID tag. Behind the link: the passport, curated master data and everything else, on EPCIS 2.0, from model level down to the single item.

Your Digital Product Passport, ready to publish

The EU asks for a digital product passport for more and more product groups, batteries first. epc.is publishes yours today, under your own GS1 number, and is more than a passport.
  • ESPR requirement profiles
Per product type, epc.is knows which fields a passport must carry, batteries included. A readiness check tells you what is still missing before you publish.
  • One passport, every level
Model, lot or serial: the passport is rendered as a public page for each, and consumers, partners and authorities each see what is meant for them.
  • Reached from any data carrier
QR code, DataMatrix or RFID tag: the GS1 Digital Link on your product leads straight to the passport. No app needed.
  • More than a passport
The same tenant holds your GS1 master data, your resolver links and your own domain. The passport is one page of it, not the whole story.

What you get

One tenant for your company, built by benelog on EPCIS 2.0, GS1 standards and the open-source OpenEPCIS stack.
  • Master data in GS1 vocabulary
Products, organisations and places as GS1 Web Vocabulary, keyed by GTIN and GLN, editable in the browser or through the API.
  • Digital product passports
Passport templates per product type with mandatory fields and defaults, rendered as a public page for every model, lot or serial.
  • Signed passports
Sign every passport as a W3C Verifiable Credential. Anyone can check the signature with open tools, and a revoked passport shows as revoked.
  • One link for every data carrier
QR code, DataMatrix, RFID/EPC or a plain URL: the GS1 Digital Link resolver sends every number to the right page or link. Linksets are registered with the GS1 registry, so scans and reads find you.
  • Who sees what
Mark each field public, authorised only or restricted. Consumers see what is meant for them, partners see more.
  • Your own domain
Serve your Digital Links from your own hostname. One CNAME is all it takes.
  • Privacy-friendly scan statistics
See how often your products are scanned or read and where, without storing IP addresses or tracking anybody.

How to get started

Access is granted by hand during the beta, so that only a company's own people publish under its numbers.
  1. Create an account

Register with your e-mail address and confirm it. You set your password after clicking the link in the mail.

  2. Tell us your company

Sign in and apply for access: with your GS1 Germany access key, with your company prefix and one GTIN or GLN as evidence, or take a test prefix and start right away.

  3. We review

With a test prefix you are in immediately. Otherwise we check that you may act for the company and its numbers, set up your tenant, and e-mail you as soon as it is ready.

  4. Start publishing

Sign in again, and your tenant is there: create products, fill in passports and put the link into QR codes, DataMatrix symbols or RFID tags that resolve.

Before you register

What you need
  • You act for a business, public body or research institution. epc.is is not offered to consumers.
  • Your company holds a GS1 company prefix, or you start with a test prefix from the GS1 example range.
  • An e-mail address you can receive mail at, ideally your company address.
What beta means
  • It is free of charge during the beta.
  • We make no promises about availability, features or support while the platform is in beta, and we are liable for intent, gross negligence and wherever the law requires it. Keep your own copies of your data.
  • Links are registered with the registry GS1 runs in production, so an entry there has effect beyond epc.is.
  • Use it fairly and only under GS1 numbers your company holds. Accounts that break this get suspended.
